Welcome to the Kurtz Family! I am from south Georgia but married a NOLA boy. He swept me off my feet and moved me to the great state of Louisiana. Together we've created a precious family of two sweet boys.... only 14.5 months apart. We are busy! Brooks is silly, giggly and so much fun! Parker is sweet, cuddly, and so loving. You wouldn't know it by looking at him, but Parker has a rare disease called Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. We are learning to deal with CVS as a family and keep Parker as healthy as possible!

Six Months Old!!!

My sweet baby is 6 months old... and he has had the BUSIEST month yet! We just left the doctor from his 6 month appointment. This precious ham weighs 21 pounds 14 ounces and is 26 inches long. This keeps him in the 95% for weight and 50% for height. According to his doctor this means, "he is just perfect." I couldn't agree more!

Brooks celebrated his first Christmas the entire month of December! He celebrated 3 times... an early Christmas in SC, then Christmas in NOLA, and then home with Mommy and Daddy. We started with two weeks in SC to stay with his Mema and Papa. I was a little nervous about flying with him by myself but he was perfectly happy and behaved both there and back. Nothing to it! We had a wonderful two weeks with my parents. They just loved waking up to this laughs and giggles each day! This was the first time my brother Robert, sister-in-law Debbie, and my 3 nephews have met Brooks. What a happy visit for all of us!! While there, Brooks was also able to meet my dear cousin Kelly (who is expecting baby Maddox), and two of my very best friends, Heather and Jessica (along with baby Dallas). Brooks enjoyed all of his company and I did too!!!

The last two weeks of December have been spent at home and in NOLA. Brooks was able to visit his Paw Paw Sammy in his new hospital. Both Maw Maw and I agree that Brooks' sweet laughter was the perfect medicine for Paw Paw! I put Brooks in the bed and wrapped Paw Paw's arm around him. Mr. Sammy instantly started rubbing his pants leg. He loves this boy! That was a great experience until Brooks tried to grab his oxygen tube! I had to grab his little hand very quickly!

We also celebrated Christmas with our Kurtz family while we were there. Brooks slept through most of it! When we got home to have our Mommy and Daddy Christmas, he was definitely awake and has had a great time playing with all of his new toys.

Brooks has become a little BUSY BODY!! He rolls over both ways constantly, laughs SO loud all the time, and now can wave bye-bye. I think he thought I was crazy the first time I saw him wave! His Mommy was screaming with excitement! These are the big moments around here! Oh, and he has started solid foods. And of course LOVES THEM ALL... especially SQUASH! My boy loves his food.

I'm going to try to rest as much as possible this month... in preparation for the next step... CRAWLING! I can't wait to see it but I am tired just thinking about it!

Thanks again for loving our baby boy and watching him grow.
Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas! Happy New Year from the Kurtz family!

Five Months Old!

How can Brooks be 5 months old already??? And why is it killing me that I don't have a scale picture? I love looking at that little ham boy on the scale each month! Our Brooks has shown so much joy to others this month. Since his Paw Paw Sammy has been in the hospital, he has spent a lot of time at the hospital with our Louisiana family. He has laughed and giggled and smiled so sweetly to anyone and everyone in the ICU. Brooks is such a special blessing that we have been so proud to share!

Aside from his job as "hospital therapy baby," Brooks has had another month full of growing and learning. He now eats rice cereal like a pro! He would rather not have bottles... just give the boy a spoon. Bottles are just too time consuming I guess. He is getting very good at holding his big 7 oz bottles of milk though and he does better at feedings when he is holding the bottle himself. He also tried oatmeal cereal for the first time today. This was our big 5 month treat. Rice cereal apparently tastes kind of blah... but I think he would have turned up that bowl of oatmeal!

Brooks is also getting so STRONG. While he can't quite sit up completely on his own, he likes to pull himself up and balance sitting with his hands. I like to call him, "my little tripod.' He can also now roll over back to front and can scoot in a full 360* circle when he's doing tummy time.

Next month, Brooks will take his first trip to SC and GA. All of my GA family have yet to meet him and can't wait to get their hands on him! Needless to say, his Mema Linda is also having a fit to see this growing boy again!!

Today is also the day my Daddy went to Heaven, 9 years ago. Gosh, he would have loved this baby! I'll kiss Brooks extra on this day!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Enjoy your sweet Family Day! Please continue to keep Brooks' Paw Paw in your prayers.

What a happy boy! Pure love!!!!

Prayers for Paw Paw Sammy

"Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'' Matthew 19:26

As you know, Brooks' Paw Paw Sammy is very, very sick. Paw Paw is so in love with sweet Brooks... and we just pray and pray and pray that God will heal him. I can't wait to see his face light up when he's able to see his precious Grandchildren again! Lexi, Andrew, Anna Grace, Mary Beth, and Brooks are so blessed to have such an amazing Grandfather!

We love you so very much, Paw Paw Sammy!

Four Months Old!!

Four months got here so very fast! Brooks is growing, and Growing, and GROWING!!! At his four month appointment yesterday, he weighed in at 18 pounds and 3 ounces, and is still 25.5 inches long. That means he is in the 95th% for weight and in the 50-75% for height. Ooops! Brooks just enjoys his food! When his nurse came in to give him his shots she said, "It shouldn't hurt you as bad sweet Brooks because you have those perfect little thighs." His chunky thighs are pretty perfect!

He has had another active month full of new milestones. Brooks now kicks nonstop. He likes to kick on different materials to hear different noises. The nurse had to change the paper on the examining table twice yesterday because he had such a great time kicking and tearing up the paper! His other favorite activity is jumping in his jumper. He falls asleep at least once a day 'jumping for joy!' He also LOVES for Mommy & Daddy to sing to him. The boy will throw his head back laughing at Mommy singing "The Wheels On The Bus." I always say that Brooks is the only person that thinks I am funnier than Chad. The boy seriously thinks I am a comedian! Chad and I just absolutely treasure each and every laugh, giggle, and sweet baby babble. This child is such a delight!

18 lb and 3 oz... He officially weighs more than Anabelle!

He is so happy at his Dr. appointment!

This sweet boy is always SO GIGGLY! He makes our lives so happy!

These two are always together! Side by side.

This is Brooks' first try at eating rice cereal with a spoon. He is not so sure.

Brooks Carter's Baptism

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Brooks Carter Kurtz was baptized on October 3rd at our church, St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Father Matt led a beautiful baptismal service for our Brooks. What a special day!

Three Months Old!!!

He's 3 months old already!!! Wow, time is flying! Brooks is absolutely such a joy every single day!! This is definitely mine and Chad's favorite stage with him. The boy laughs huge, belly laughs and coos his own special language all day long. It is so sweet! Brooks had his 3 month check-up on Friday. He now weighs 15 pounds and is 25 inches long. He is a big boy! This puts him in the 75th-90th% for both height and weight. I was a little concerned that my baby eats as much as my friends' children who are 7 months and 1 year old, but Dr. Wood assured me that he is not overfed... just a GROWING boy since his height and weight do match. And who doesn't LOVE chubby baby legs?? Enjoy my chunky monkey!!

Yep, he's a 15 pounder!!

Two Months Old!!!

Our BIG boy is two months old... and when I say BIG, I mean it!!! At Brooks' two month appointment he weighed in at 12 pounds, 13 ounces and is 23 1/2 inches long! The nurse measured him twice because she couldn't believe he had grown two more inches in a month! The boy likes to eat!! Brooks had a another fun month with a special weekend visit from his Mema, several trips to see Maw Maw and Paw Paw in New Orleans, and even a couple of spend the night trips with Mommy and Daddy at Aunt Kerrie's. He has gotten oh so fun!! And I swear CUTER every day!!!! He smiles and laughs the sweetest laugh! He wakes me up in the middle of the night laughing in his sleep and I LOVE it! I can't help but laugh too... even at 3 am! As you can see Anabelle is still IN LOVE with her Bro Bro. I was trying to snap just him, but she jumped in with a big "kiss" before I could stop her!

One Month Old!!

We've been blessed to be Brooks' parents for one month now... and it has been AMAZING! Brooks has had a super active month with being born and all. Plus, he's gone on several "field trips" and had tons of visitors and admirers. First, he had Mema and Papa (my parents) stay with him an entire week. This was a great week for all of us. Brooks even went out for an Italian dinner during that time on his 1 week birthday! Next, he celebrated his very first holiday, the 4th of July, in Pass Christian, Mississippi. He enjoyed spending time with his Maw Maw and Paw Paw (Chad's parents), aunts, uncles, and cousins. Aunt Kerrie even talked Mommy into doing an overnight on this trip. With Brooks being only 10 days old, we packed the entire house for our one night stay! Brooks did great! At three weeks old, Brooks took his first trip to New Orleans. He spent a nice afternoon with Maw Maw and Paw Paw while Mommy and Daddy enjoyed a late lunch date in the French Quarter. Brooks is growing so fast! He is a very healthy eater (and sleeper... thank the LORD!!!!) and now weighs over 10 pounds. We honestly just can't get enough of him!!! As you can see, his big "sister" Anabelle is in love with him too! He is a sweet, sweet boy! Newborn pics coming soon......

Our child is born!

I Samuel 1:27 For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him.

Brooks Carter Kurtz has finally arrived! He was born on June 24th, 2010 at 12:22 pm... weighing 7 lbs 6.5 oz and measuring 20 inches... with a head full of silky, dark hair! Our world has changed and we are so grateful! I've prayed for this child for so long and my husband has prayed for his wife to have a "fruitful womb" since we met. Yet we had no idea just how in absolute love we would be with our son! He is changing so much every single day. We are loving settling into a family routine and look forward to sharing our joy with our family and friends.
